The Pure Start® - Real Food
No funny numbers. No inexplicable terms.
Babies need a host of vitamins and minerals to encourage development. At Heinz we know the best way to achieve this is through the use of natural produce. We only use farm fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and grains. Preservatives, added salt, colours and artificial flavours are all banned from our baby food. The Pure Start program is Heinz promise to provide baby foods of the highest standard of purity, safety and nutrition.
According to the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Code, the salt limit for cans and jars of baby food is 100mg per 100g. At Heinz, we are even more stringent and all Heinz baby food jars and cans contain less than 75mg of naturally occurring sodium per 100g. Naturally occurring sodium is not the same as table salt which is processed with heat and usually bleached. Salt is an acquired taste, the more you have, the more you want. Many other well known products such as crackers, cheese sticks and breakfast cereal biscuits have significantly higher levels of added sodium. Most of these would not meet the strict baby food guidelines of FSANZ (Food Standards Australia New Zealand) or us here at Heinz. Heinz believes in protecting your baby from such additives for as long as possible.
Each of our preferred suppliers is audited regularly. This ensures all their produce is of the best quality possible. In addition, our dedicated technical teams check through all ingredients before accepting them. If the meat doesn’t look red enough or if there are any blemishes on the fruit, they are thrown out just as they would be by you.
